About:
Fourth-grade students at Landing School, under the direction of teacher Courtney McCord, wrote letters to WWII veteran Vincent Long. In their letters, students commended Long on his service and congratulated him for his accomplishments.
“It was really beneficial to put what they learned about WWII into a real-life perspective” McCord said. “Knowing that Long was alive and had lived through some of the things that they had read about in their textbooks gave them a different connection to their classroom studies.”
The students invited Long to visit Landing School and are hoping to meet him.
